We need to make sure we are worshiping God as depicted in His word. We have to be true to God and not to man. You see man cannot save you. Jesus tells us in Matthew...
Matthew 4:4 "... Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God."
And we have seen in this study what comes out of the mouth of God. We have also seen what comes out of the mouth of Satan - Babylon, confusion, deception, and so much of the tradition that we now cling to as if it were from the pages of scripture itself. But we have seen very definitely that it is not - this is man changing the word of God.
Peter, one of Christ's apostles, tells us plainly in Acts...
Acts 5:29 "Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men."
This is why it is so important that each of us studies God's word for ourselves.
We will have no excuse on the day of judgement. What will you say? "Well Lord if only I'd known, Pastor so-and-so didn't tell me, brother or sister so-and-so didn't tell me."
If only men and women today would search the scriptures to see if the preaching of pastors and televangelists is true! They are mortal, fallible, like you and I, they make mistakes, they have their own view, like you and I.
We must not only read the Bible daily, we must be like the Bereans:
Acts 17:11 "These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so."
The Bereans did not blindly accept religious teaching. The Bereans were praised because they searched the Scriptures daily to see if what they were told was Biblical truth.
Matthew Henry, in his Bible commentary, wrote...
"It is the duty of all Christians diligently to search the Scriptures ..." Matthew Henry, Bible Commentary
When a person is blinded to the truth, as plain as it may be, they cannot perceive it.
So if you want to follow God, and have Himself and His Son abide in your heart, then take the time to get to know them, through their word, and if you are truly searching then they will guide you into all truth.
Jesus said...
John 14:6 "... I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."
And Paul confirms...
Romans 8:9 "But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his."
Two - the Father and His Son - who dwell with us by Their eternal Holy Spirit.
